The detainee must depart voluntarily from the United States. The courts will allow some time for the family to make preparations, usually a period of 30 days. Immigration bonds are refunded minus the agent fee for posting.
In some rare cases, a Voluntary Departure Bond is granted to a subject who is no longer in custody. If you or a loved one is granted a bond and are not in custody, the bond must be posted directly through ICE. A cashier's check will be required, made payable to the Department of Homeland Security and it must be posted at the facility. The alien is required to be present and must bring his/her passport or another form of photo identification.
